A typical CCTV Camera

Are there any laws I need to be aware of before I install a CCTV system?

There is significant legislation that covers the use of CCTV systems in the Public sector, business and residential use.

It is always best to check the current state and Federal legislation.

Do I need to tell my staff or neighbours if I install a CCTV system?

Yes you must explain to your staf that you are installing CCTV and the reasons why. If you are a home owner and you have installed or are intending to install CCTV you should discuss this with your neighbours especially if a camera covers any part of your neighbours property.
